4 November: “Sleep better with RFDS” presented by Cath Walker

Sleep is an essential part of our physical and mental health and is something we do for about a third of our lives. Sleep is a complex state with many functions and poor quality or inadequate sleep may put our health at risk. Poor quality sleep can lead to daytime tiredness, poor concentration, irritability and affect our immune response leading to more frequent illness. About 10% of Australians have a diagnosed sleep disorder but this is likely to be underestimated, as many people are unaware that they have a problem.

This webinar aims to increase understanding of:
  • The normal sleep cycles, light, moderate, deep and dreaming stages;
  • How much sleep we need;
  • What effects the quality of our sleep;
  • Types and causes of common sleep problems such as difficulty falling asleep, poor quality sleep, waking overnight, sleeping too long or too little;
  • Strategies to treat and improve sleep problems and promote good sleep routines.
