Heart Health Checks: The Critical role of the practice nurse
Health Professional Webinar
The Heart Foundation are hosting a webinar in collaboration with the Australian Primary health Care Nurses Association to focus on the critical role of practice nurses in implementing Health Health Checks.
Approximately 76,500 cardiovascular disease related events could be prevented with the uptake of Heart Health Checks over the next five years.
The new Heart Health Check MBS item provides general practitioners and primary health care nurses with an incentivised opportunity to initiate an early and continuing relationship with their at-risk patients not already known to have CVD.

- implementation of the new Heart Health Check MBS item
- the role of the practice nurse in supporting absolute CVD risk assessment
- new primary care data outlining gaps in practice around CVD risk factor assessment
