Date: Tuesday, November 9, 2021
Time: 01:00
Orygen YES Webinar Series 2021
1:00 - 2:30pm AEDT
Gender diversity is an umbrella term used to describe the many ways that people can experience their gender in a way that differs from the gender presumed for them at birth. Working in a gender affirming way is essential for supporting the wellbeing of young people who are trans, gender diverse, questioning their gender, or gender non-conforming in any way that they define for themselves. A gender affirming approach should be used with all young people across general mental health and health services, not just specialised gender clinics.
This presentation will outline principles of gender affirming care and present findings from the CLICK Study, a national youth mental health workforce survey about professional skills, knowledge, and development needs in relation to working with trans young people.
Speakers will also present recently co-developed resources for the youth mental health workforce about gender diversity.
