Self-care in the current COVID-19 environment
This self-care session will help you to check in on how you are travelling..are those symptoms of stress or burnout? Find out the difference and talk to other professionals in Western Queensland about the signs of stress and coping strategies being used.

The third in a series of five webinars hosted by the Australian Psychological Society and WQPHN will be held next Monday 31 August from 7pm.  
This aim is to assist health care workers understand how the COVID-19 crisis has introduced an unprecedented level of stress in their personal and professional lives.

This workshop focuses on key aspects of stress management including clinician self-care and recognising the signs of stress early, including when to seek professional help.

By the end of this webinar participants will be able to:
  • Recognise signs and symptoms of stress in themselves
  • Adapt self-care and coping strategies in the current environment and identify where and when to seek help
  • Implement strategies to maintain personal and connectedness

About the Presenters: 

Dr Helen Lindner FAPS is a registered psychologist with an endorsed area of practice in health psychology, an approved supervisor, and a Fellow of the APS and the College of Health Psychologists. Helen has been involved in the development of all the APS supervisor training programs, and active training approaches to develop competencies in supervision as required by the PsyBA.

Mr David Stokes FAPS is a psychologist with a long history of working in staff management and professional practice.  After many years working as the Director of Psychology in a major public hospital, David became the Executive Manager, Professional Practice, for the Australian Psychological Society.  

More recently David has been working for the Australian Psychological Society in their Professional Advisory Service (email and telephone) which provides prompt assistance to psychologists in their professional spheres and as a consequence has had considerable dealings with the bushfire crisis and then the Covid-19 pandemic.  This has enabled him to hear first hand from practitioners about their client and their own personal struggles with the pandemic.
