Media Release 6 March 2020 - Services Collaborate: Roma to host key stakeholder Roundtable
SOUTH WEST SUPPORT SERVICES FOCUS ON “LIVED EXPERIENCE” OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
SERVICES COLLABORATE: Roma to host key stakeholder Roundtable to address mental health responses in South West Queensland.
Western Queenslanders who’ve experienced anxiety, depression or even suicidal thoughts are now playing a key role in co-designing mental health support services in the bush, thanks to a series of collaborations on show at next week’s (10/03/20,12/03/20) Mental Health Roundtables in Roma and Charleville.
For the first time, one of Australia’s leading suicide prevention organisations will attend the Roma forum, keen to be “part of the conversation” about ways to support those struggling with their mental health in the South Western corridor.
“The first thing we will do at the forum will be to listen and learn about what’s happening on the ground in the region,” Roses in the Ocean CEO Bronwen Edwards said.
The South West Mental Health Roundtables are a collaboration between the WQPHN, the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) and the South West Hospital and Health Service (SWHHS).
The forums are an opportunity for local mental health and drug and alcohol service providers, along with community stakeholders, to come together and discuss well-being issues relevant to the South West.
