INTERACTIVE CASE-BASED LEARNING FOR EFFECTIVE WOUND ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT

WQPHN is pleased to present this interactive workshop for GPs, nurses and other primary healthcare professionals.

Through real-world case studies and practical discussion, participants will strengthen their confidence in assessing and managing acute and chronic wounds commonly encountered in primary care.

The workshop explores the TIME framework for wound assessment, factors that influence wound healing, dressing selection principles, infection management, and when referral or escalation of care is required. With a focus on practical, evidence-based care, participants will leave with skills and strategies that can be applied immediately in general practice, community nursing and other primary healthcare settings.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Classify common wound types encountered in primary care.
  • Perform a structured wound assessment using the TIME framework.
  • Apply evidence-based wound management principles.
  • Select appropriate dressings based on wound characteristics.
  • Recognise when referral or escalation of wound management is required.
