Immunisation

Continued protection and services for Western Queensland communities

Adult Vaccinations

Many people think vaccinations are only for children. But vaccinations are just as important for adults. However, many adults don’t know what vaccines they need. Various life situations, travel and even different jobs need different levels of protection. So, it’s good to know what vaccinations are recommended for you.

Childhood Vaccines

Vaccinating children is one of the most effective ways to protect them from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, and whooping cough. Through the National Immunisation Program (NIP), the Australian Government provides a comprehensive schedule of free vaccines for children at various stages of development—from birth through adolescence. These vaccines not only safeguard individual children but also help protect the broader community by reducing the spread of infectious diseases. Staying up to date with the recommended schedule ensures your child builds strong immunity during their most vulnerable years.
See the full schedule on the Department of Health website.

Influenza Vaccinations

The flu is more than just a bad cold—it can cause serious illness, especially in young children, older adults, people with health conditions and during pregnancy. If you're pregnant, getting the flu vaccine is especially important—it helps protect both you and your baby, even after birth. Flu vaccinations are free for all Queenslanders aged 6 months and over. You don’t need a Medicare card.

Although the flu vaccine is free, some providers may still charge a consultation fee. Check if there are any fees when making your appointment.

COVID-19 Vaccinations

COVID-19 vaccines help protect against serious illness and reduce the spread of the virus. Booster doses are recommended for many people to maintain strong protection. Vaccines are free and widely available across Queensland.
