We're looking for a passionate local person to become Windorah's Community Wellbeing Connector. This role is all about bringing people together, supporting local wellbeing initiatives, and helping connect residents with services, activities and opportunities that contribute to healthier, happier lives.
If you're well connected within the community, enjoy working with people, and want to make a meaningful difference in Windorah, we'd love to hear from you.
Western Queensland Primary Health Network (WQPHN) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government to strengthen primary health care across Western Queensland. We work in close partnership with local health providers, communities and key stakeholders to understand the unique needs of rural and remote populations and deliver services that ensure people receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
We are committed to strong governance, culturally safe practice, and supporting our people to do meaningful work that delivers real benefits for communities.
Staying healthy and well in the outback can be tough. Healthy Outback Communities (HOC) is an innovative approach to health and wellbeing designed specifically for residents of Western Queensland's Channel Country.
Beginning in Barcoo Shire in 2024, HOC supports residents to improve their health and wellbeing through a proactive, community-led approach that focuses on wellbeing, prevention and staying healthy, rather than simply responding to illness.
HOC complements the care already provided by local Primary Health Centres, visiting health services, Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) teams, and other community partners.
The HOC Wellbeing Connector is the local face of Healthy Outback Communities in Windorah.
We're looking for someone who knows and cares about their community, enjoys connecting people, and wants to help make Windorah an even stronger, healthier place to live.
Working closely with residents, community groups, local organisations and visiting services, you'll help identify community needs, support local wellbeing initiatives and connect people with activities, services and opportunities that improve health and wellbeing.
This is not a clinical role. You don't need a healthcare background. What matters most is your connection to the community, your ability to build relationships, and your passion for helping people.
As the HOC Wellbeing Connector, you'll help bring local ideas to life, support community-led wellbeing activities, maintain community information and resources, and work alongside the wider HOC team to ensure residents can access the support they need to thrive.
This role is perfect for someone who is already connected to the Windorah community and enjoys bringing people together.
You may have experience through community groups, local organisations, administration, customer service, education, tourism, agriculture, volunteering or another people-focused role. More important than formal qualifications is your ability to build relationships, communicate effectively and genuinely care about your community.
• A strong understanding of the Windorah community and the opportunities and challenges faced by rural and remote communities.
• A genuine passion for supporting community wellbeing and helping people access local opportunities and support.
• The ability to build positive relationships with residents, community groups, service providers and stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to share information clearly and engage with a wide range of people.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently while remaining connected to a broader team.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, SharePoint and other workplace technology.
• A current Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one.
• Make a genuine difference in your own community
• Help bring people, services and opportunities together
• Support local wellbeing initiatives that create lasting community impact
• Enjoy flexible work arrangements and ongoing professional development
• Access generous salary packaging benefits and a competitive hourly rate

• Competitive hourly rate
• Superannuation
• Tax-effective salary packaging options
• Regional allowance for eligible employees residing within Western Queensland
• Professional development opportunities
• Flexible work arrangements
• Supportive and collaborative team culture
